"Students with Academic Difficulties: Benefits of a Study Skills Group Compared to an Emotional Skills Group"

"Students can encounter difficulties in their academic careers, regarding studying skills, for instance, or experiencing negative emotions. Both are amenable to training and related one another. This study aimed examine the efficacy of two interventions focusing on skills emotional skills. Two groups students with participated: 30 worked study-related aspects (Study group); other attended lessons emotions everyday life (Emotional group). They were tested before after measures motivation learn, self–regulated learning strategies, (positive emotions). The results showed that both benefited from training. Study group improved specifically incremental theory intelligence (d=0.94, p<0.001), strategies (organization: d=0.74, p<0.001; elaboration: d=0.58, preparing exams: d=0.78, p<0.001, specific effects), more positive about performance (d=0.64, transfer effect). Emotional smaller effects (0.10≤d≤0.49), a large effect self (d=– .87). These offer insight how approach students’ difficulties."
